which of the following describes policies used in the US and Europe during the 1930s that worsened the Great depression
The policies that worsened the great depression are tight monetary policy, protectionism, austerity measures and bank failures
What are the policies used in US and Europe that worsened the great depressionThere were several policies implemented in the US and Europe during the 1930s that worsened the Great Depression. Some of the key policies include:
1. Tight monetary policy: In an attempt to maintain the gold standard, the Federal Reserve in the US and other central banks in Europe pursued tight monetary policies, which restricted the money supply and made it harder for businesses and individuals to obtain credit. This led to a deflationary spiral, where falling prices and wages reduced demand and worsened the economic downturn.
2. Protectionism: The Smoot-Hawley Tariff Act of 1930, which raised tariffs on thousands of imported goods, made it harder for American businesses to export their products and exacerbated trade tensions with other countries. European countries also implemented protectionist policies, which reduced global trade and worsened the economic crisis.
3. Austerity measures: Many governments in Europe implemented austerity measures, such as cutting spending and raising taxes, in an attempt to balance their budgets and reduce deficits. However, these policies further reduced aggregate demand and worsened the economic downturn.
4. Bank failures: In the US and Europe, many banks failed during the Great Depression, which led to a reduction in the money supply and further constrained credit.

The major change that took place during the late nineteenth century in the teaching of medicine, architecture, engineering, and law was the shift towards scientific and professional education.
During the late nineteenth century, significant changes occurred in the teaching methodologies of medicine, architecture, engineering, and law. This period marked a shift towards scientific and professional education, transforming these fields into more rigorous and specialized disciplines.
In medicine, the late nineteenth century saw the emergence of the scientific method as a foundation for medical practice. Previously, medical education relied heavily on apprenticeship and practical experience. However, with the advancements in scientific knowledge and the development of laboratory techniques, medical schools began to incorporate scientific principles and research into their curricula. This led to a greater emphasis on anatomy, physiology, pathology, and the study of diseases, enabling doctors to make more accurate diagnoses and provide evidence-based treatments.
Similarly, architecture, engineering, and law also experienced significant changes in their teaching approaches. In architecture, the late nineteenth century witnessed the rise of formal architectural education programs that emphasized design principles, structural engineering, and urban planning. This shift aimed to produce architects with a strong theoretical foundation and a comprehensive understanding of the technical aspects of their profession.
In engineering, the late nineteenth century marked the establishment of engineering schools and the standardization of engineering education. This period saw the development of specialized engineering disciplines such as civil, mechanical, electrical, and chemical engineering. The curriculum focused on fundamental scientific principles, mathematics, and technical skills, enabling engineers to apply scientific knowledge to practical problem-solving.
Likewise, in law, the late nineteenth century saw the adoption of a more structured and systematic approach to legal education. Law schools introduced a comprehensive study of legal principles, statutes, and case law. The emphasis shifted from mere memorization of legal codes to critical analysis, reasoning, and interpretation of legal concepts. This approach aimed to produce lawyers who were well-versed in legal theory and capable of applying it to real-world scenarios.

The Boston Red Sox won the 2004 World Series - a feat last accomplished in 1918. Fenway Park, its home field, is the oldest (and smallest) park of any of the major league teams, holding a maximum of 36,000 fans. MLB has strongly suggested that the owners of the team consider expanding its seating to 40,000. The cost of permits, project management, and construction is expected to be $40,000 per seat. Work can be accomplished over a period of two years at which time the club will have 4000 additional seats to sell. (Assume the investment would occur equally over years 0 and 1) Each seat will generate an additional $3500 of revenue per year for the first 3 years after completion, $4000 per year for the next 4 years and $5000 per year for the next 4 years at which time a replacement or major renovation of the park will be necessary. 1. If the cost of capital is 15%, will this project be economically feasible, given the information provided? What is the NPV? IRR? 2. John Henry, the principle owner of the club, decided to approach Boston Mayor Tom Menino, to seek a subsidy from the city to guarantee at least 10% return on the project. How much would the city have to advance at the beginning to accomplish this? 3. What steps might management consider to make the project more economically attractive? Show your analysis.
The difference between the current value of cash inflows and withdrawals over a period of time is known as net present value (NPV). NPV is calculated as 123133.7.
NPV of the city:
cost of permits, project management, and construction
$40,000 * 4 = 160000
less: Revenue from additional seats:
First 3 years $3500* 2.2832
$7991.0
Next 4 years $4000*1.8772
$7508.8
Next 4 years $5000*1.0733
$5366.5 (20866.3)
less 10% subsidy
$160000*10% (16000) NPV= 123133.7.
To evaluate the profitability of a proposed investment or project, NPV is used in capital budgeting and investment planning. Using the appropriate discount rate, computations are performed to determine the current value of a stream of future payments or NPV. Projects that have a positive NPV are generally worthwhile pursuing, whereas those that have a negative NPV are not.
Your cost of capital or the rewards offered by substitute investments with equivalent risk may be reflected in the discount rate. A project's or investment's positive net present value (NPV) indicates that the rate of return will exceed the discount rate.

When comparing the two, the correct answer is option C, values are more stable than attitudes, since values are formed in early life and tend to remain the same.

Attitudes, on the other hand, are evaluations and opinions towards specific objects, people, or ideas. They are more susceptible to change compared to values because attitudes are influenced by a variety of factors, including personal experiences, social interactions, and new information.

Develop an argument that evaluates the extent to which globalization affected culture in the 20th century
Explanation:
establecidas e identidades nacionales bien distintas”.3

The Portuguese determined that the most profitable way to utilize Africa was through the establishment of trading posts along the African coast, monopolizing the trade in valuable goods such as gold, spices, and slaves.
The Portuguese exploration and colonization of Africa in the 15th and 16th centuries aimed to maximize their economic gains. They recognized that the most profitable approach was to establish trading posts along the African coast. By doing so, the Portuguese could control and monopolize the trade of highly sought-after goods, including gold, spices, and slaves.
The Portuguese trading posts served as strategic bases where they could secure trade routes, establish commercial networks, and facilitate the exchange of goods. These posts enabled the Portuguese to establish economic dominance and exert control over the valuable resources found in various African regions. Additionally, the Portuguese exploited the labor force by engaging in the transatlantic slave trade, which further contributed to their economic prosperity.
Through their systematic establishment of trading posts, the Portuguese effectively utilized Africa as a lucrative source of wealth and commodities. Their dominance in African trade played a significant role in the broader context of European colonization and the expansion of global trade networks during the Age of Exploration.
