Rounded to the nearest percent

At A Coffee Shop, The First 100 Customers'orders Were As Follows. What Is The Probability That A Customer

Answers

Answer 1

Answer:

48%

Step-by-step explanation:

There were 25 people who ordered cold drinks, and since we know the person already ordered a cold drink, we exclude the 75 who ordered a hot drink. The number of people who ordered a cold medium drink is 12, so you simply divide 12 by 25 and get 0.48 or 48%

Answer 2

The probability that a customer ordered a medium given that he or she ordered a cold drink is 48%.

What is probability?

The probability of any event A is the chance of the occurrence of that event.

It is determined as the ratio of the number of favorable outcomes to event A (n), to the total number of possible outcomes (S).

Hence, the formula for the probability of event A is given as:

P(A) = n/S.

How to solve the question?

In the question, we are given a table that represents the orders of the first 100 customers.

We are asked to find the probability that a customer ordered a medium given that he or she ordered a cold drink.

We assume the event of ordering a medium given already ordered a cold drink be A.

The number of outcomes favorable to event A (n) = 12 {The medium number of orders in the cold option}.

The total number of possible outcomes (S) = 25 {The total cold orders = 8 + 12 + 5 = 25}.

Therefore, the probability of event A is:

P(A) = n/S = 12/25.

To express this as a percentage, we multiply by 100.

Therefore, P(A) = 12/25 * 100% = 48%.

Therefore, the probability that a customer ordered a medium given that he or she ordered a cold drink is 48%.

A Big Year
By Bob Kowalski

Would you go to the ends of the earth to see a bird? What if it were a really special bird: one with beautiful feathers, an entrancing call, or a silly dance? What if seeing that one special bird would allow you to win a contest?

If that contest doesn't get you on television or win you any cash prizes, would you still do it? For those who participate in the "Big Year," the honor of beating the previous record is the only reward they get or even want.

A "Big Year" is a year in which a person attempts to see as many different species of birds as possible within a particular region. For most in North America who participate in a "Big Year," this region is the lower 48 American states, plus Alaska, Canada, and a couple of French islands off the Canadian coast.

You may be thinking that looking at birds is silly, but just think about the numbers of the recent record holders and the commitment it takes to get these numbers. One recent "Big Year" winner managed to see 744 birds in one year, missing the record by just one bird. Big Year birders travel by train, plane, boat, car, bicycle, and of course, by foot. They can cover over 150 thousand miles to get numbers of sightings this high. They can also spend a small fortune.

Just to clarify, the birds these contestants are counting are the number that they see in a particular year. You see, the contest is based on an honor system. No pictures or other evidence is required as proof of a sighting. Most birders take great pride in their reputation and their abilities to see or hear and then identify a bird. Usually, important sightings of the rare birds needed to get counts in the 700s are visited by hundreds of birders. It is pretty hard to cheat your way to a record-breaking year, but in general, few are interested in cheating.

This honesty comes from the fact that most people who want to break such a record know the greatest rewards are not necessarily in winning. Such rewards are in being able to commit a year of your life to doing something you love. Rewards are found in seeing amazing, inspiring creatures like the California Condor or the Magnificent Frigate bird. Rewards also come in spending time with people who, like you, want to spend their time looking to the skies and trees for glimpses of emerald, crimson, or cerulean blue feathered jewels.

You don't have to be able to travel a continent to have a big birding experience though. Have a big month. Or a big weekend. Set a personal record, learn to identify the species that live in your part of the world, or try to learn the calls of just two species of birds. You will soon find looking at birds isn't such a strange way to spend your time.

Extra! Extra! Backyard Birding
Many schools, families, and young birders across the country participate in the "Great Backyard Bird Count." While not as long as a "Big Year," the "Great Backyard Bird Count" happens every year. It depends on birders and families across the country to watch feeders and other areas in their yards and count the number of birds they see. Unlike the "Big Year," the goal is not to see who can count the most birds. Instead, participants in this event work together to help bird experts get a good idea of how birds are doing. Participants are given checklists and enter their sightings on a website. Called a "citizen-science" project, this event is open to anyone, requires no travel, and happens every year over one weekend in February.

Person 1, person 2, and person 3 paid a total of $120 for lunch. They split the money respectively using the ratio 1:2:3. How much more did person 3 pay than person 2?

Answers

Person 3's payment exceeded person 2's payment by $20.

To find out how much more person 3 paid than person 2, we need to calculate the amounts each person paid based on the given ratio and then compare their payments.

The ratio given is 1:2:3, which means that person 1 gets 1 part, person 2 gets 2 parts, and person 3 gets 3 parts of the total amount.

Step 1: Calculate the total number of parts in the ratio.

1 + 2 + 3 = 6

Step 2: Determine the value of one part.

$120 (total amount) divided by 6 (total number of parts) = $20

Step 3: Calculate the payments for each person based on the ratio.

Person 1: 1 part * $20 = $20

Person 2: 2 parts * $20 = $40

Person 3: 3 parts * $20 = $60

Therefore, person 3 paid $60, while person 2 paid $40. To find out how much more person 3 paid than person 2, we subtract the amount person 2 paid from the amount person 3 paid:

$60 - $40 = $20

Hence, person 3 paid $20 more than person 2.

Answer:

RECT is similar to SQUA since their corresponding angles are the same size, and the side lengths of RECT are three times the corresponding side lengths of SQUA (their corresponding sides are in the same ratio).

Step-by-step explanation:

In similar shapes:

Corresponding angles are the same size.Corresponding sides are always in the same ratio.

Since RECT and SQUA are both rectangular, their corresponding angles are the same size.

If RECT is similar to SQUA then their corresponding sides will be in the same ratio:

\(\implies \sf RE:EC=SQ:QU\)

From inspection of the given diagram:

RE = 18EC = 10.5SQ = 6QU = 3.5

Substitute these values into the ratio:

\(\implies \sf 18:10.5=6:3.5\)

Therefore:

\(\implies \sf \dfrac{18}{10.5}=\dfrac{6}{3.5}\)

Cross multiply:

\(\implies \sf 18 \cdot 3.5 = 6 \cdot 10.5\)

\(\implies \sf 63=63\)

As the equation is true, this proves that RECT ~ SQUA.

Step-by-step explanation:

y-y1=m(x-x1)

y-1=m(x+3)

the slope is rise over run

the slope is -1/3

Answer:

y - 1 = 3/2 (x + 3)

Step-by-step explanation:

To find the equation of a line parallel to the given line and passing through the point (-3, 1), we can use the point-slope form of a linear equation. The point-slope form is given by:

y - y₁ = m(x - x₁)

Where (x₁, y₁) is the given point and m is the slope of the line.

First, let's calculate the slope of the given line using the two points (-2, -4) and (2, 2):

slope = (y₂ - y₁) / (x₂ - x₁)

= (2 - (-4)) / (2 - (-2))

= 6 / 4

= 3/2

Since the line we want to find is parallel to the given line, it will have the same slope. Therefore, the slope (m) of the new line is also 3/2.

Now we can substitute the values into the point-slope form using the point (-3, 1):

y - 1 = (3/2)(x - (-3))

y - 1 = (3/2)(x + 3)

The equation in point-slope form of the line parallel to the given line and passing through the point (-3, 1) is:

y - 1 = 3/2 (x + 3)

Yes, these statements have two non-overlapping hypotheses and compare a parameter to a value.D. Yes, these statements have two non-overlapping hypotheses and compare two parameters.

Answers

Answer:

C. Yes, these statements have two non-overlapping hypotheses and compare a parameter to a value

Step-by-step explanation:

Hypothesis testing is a statistical method used for accepting or rejecting a statement in statistics. Hypotheses testing are of two types; the null and the alternative hypothesis. The former disproves a particular research statement while the latter (alternative hypothesis) accepts the proof of a statement. When a statement is accepted, it is known as an alternative hypotheses(HA) and when a statement is rejected, it is a null hypothesis (H0)

The statements in question are therefore valid pair of null and alternative hypotheses.

This statements are the hypothesis that compares a parameter to a value as shown;

H0: l = 9

HA: l < 9

H0 and HA are the hypothesis, I is the parameter and 9 is the value.

Based on the above explanation, it can be concluded that the statement above are valid pair of null and alternative hypothesis. They have two non-overlapping hypotheses and compare a parameter to a value.

A comparison of two quantities by division is called a ratio and the equality of two ratios is called proportion. A ratio can be written in different forms like x : y or x/y and is commonly read as, x is to y.

Ratio is the comparison of two quantities which is obtained by dividing the first quantity by the other. If a and b are two quantities of the same kind and with the same units, such that b is not equal to 0, then the quotient a/b is called the ratio between a and b. Ratios are expressed using the symbol of the colon (:). This means that ratio a/b has no unit and it can be written as a : b
