Answers

Answer:

C

Explanation:

Aristocrats took over the government. Women gained equal rights to men. Voting became organized by social class. More people gained a voice in the government.

-Thomas Jefferson, 1790

The successful Revolution against England gave the American people an independent place in the family of nations. It gave them a changed social order in which heredity and privilege counted for little and human equality 'or much. It gave them a thousand memories of mutual hope and struggle. But most of all, it gave them the challenge to prove they possessed a genuine ability to hold their new place, to prove their capacity for self-government.

The success of the Revolution had furnished Americans with the opportunity to give legal form and expression to their political ideals as expressed in the Declaration of Independence and to remedy some of their grievances through state constitutions. As James Madison, fourth President of the United States, wrote, "Nothing has excited more admiration than the manner in which free governments have been established in America; for it was the first instance ... that free inhabitants have been seen deliberating on a form of government, and selecting such of their citizens as possessed their confidence to determine upon and give effect to it."

Today, Americans are so accustomed to living under written constitutions that they take them for granted. Yet the written constitution was developed in America and is among the earliest in history. "In all free states, the constitution is final," wrote John Adams, second President of the United States. Americans everywhere demanded "a standing law to live by." As early as May 10, 1776, Congress passed a resolution advising the colonies to form new governments "such as shall best conduce to the happiness and safety of their constituents." Some of them had already done so and, within a year after the Declaration of Independence, every state but three had drawn up a new constitution.

Writing these documents provided a splendid opportunity for the democratic elements to remedy their grievances and to realize their ambitions for sound government. And most of the resulting constitutions showed the impact of democratic ideas, though none made any drastic break with the past, built as they were by Americans on the solid foundation of colonial experience, English practice, and French political philosophy. Indeed, it was actually in the drafting of these state constitutions that the revolution was accomplished. Naturally, the first object of the framers was to secure those "unalienable rights," the violation of 'which had caused them to repudiate their connection with England. Consequently, each constitution began with a declaration or bill of rights, and Virginia's, which served as a model for all the others, included a declaration of principles such as popular sovereignty, rotation in office, freedom of elections, and an enumeration of the fundamental liberties -moderate bail and humane punishments, a militia instead of a standing army, speedy trials by the law of the land, trial by jury, freedom of the press, of conscience, of the right of a majority to reform or, alter the government, and prohibition of general warrants. Other states considerably enlarged this list to include freedom of speech, of assemblage, of petition, of bearing arms, the right to a writ of habeas corpus, inviolability of domicile, and equal operation of the laws. In addition, all the state constitutions paid allegiance to the theory of executive, legislative, and judiciary branches, each one to be checked and balanced by the others.

PROJECT: PROPAGANDA

OBJECTIVES
Identify the use of propaganda used in World War I.
Before You Begin
World War I, originally called the Great War, employed a great deal of material that told partial truths but that helped to build nationalism and unify countries against one another. This was called propaganda. Posters, newspaper articles, speeches, signs, and slogans were developed to drive a message deep into the minds of people. Propaganda was aimed at emotions, and it was meant to rally people to join a particular cause. Think through ways that propaganda was used during World War I. Who used it? What were the messages? Whom did it target? Was it successful?

Directions
Using the image below, write an essay identifying and discussing the concept of propaganda.

Part One: Look at the image provided, and read the text on it. In an essay, discuss how it may have been used as a tool of propaganda during World War I. Think through and write about who might have published it, what they were trying to use it for, and what impact it may have had on the people viewing and reading it. Carefully consider what is going on in the poster and what kind of bias is involved. How do the images impact you? How does the text impact you? How might the image and text shape the way the French people would think of the German people (the Huns are the Germans)? How might the French government want the French people to think of Germans, in light of German nationalism? Do you think that still impacts people today?

Part Two: Imagine that you are part of the French government given the task of speaking to women who might encounter German businessmen. Write a short, persuasive argument that goes along with this image. In 200 words or less, write a speech that does what the propaganda of the poster intends. Then, give your speech to an audience.

Prompt
Use your imagination combined with factual information to really put yourself in the shoes of people who might have encountered, credited, or been the target of the image. Be certain to look over the unit assignments to get a good understanding of the context of the poster. Also, use library and Internet sources to get a better understanding of how propaganda was (and still is) used. Use an outline to build the structure of your speech, then fill it in with persuasive and appropriate language to drive your message of bias and propaganda home.

Explain how Newton's Third Law applies to problems involving the motion or two colliding objects.

Answers

Answer: what is Newton's third law?

Newton's third law (motion) states for every action (force) in nature there is an equal and opposite reaction. If object A exerts a force on object B, object B also exerts an equal and opposite force on object A. In other words, forces result from interactions.

Explain how Newton's Third Law applies to problems involving the motion or two colliding objects.

Newton's third law of motion is naturally applied to collisions between two objects. In a collision between two objects, both objects experience forces that are equal in magnitude and opposite in direction. Such forces often cause one object to speed up (gain momentum) and the other object to slow down (lose momentum). When the objects bump into each other, it exert equal and opposite forces on each other.

Explanation: If you use please paraphrase

Answer:

the force exerted by the first object on the second object is equal in strength to the force that the second object exerts on the first, but in the opposite direction

Explain how the physical geography in different parts of Oceania is different and how it is the same.

Answers

Oceania is a vast region that encompasses many different countries and territories, each with their own unique physical geography.

One way in which the physical geography of Oceania varies is in terms of topography. For example, many of the islands in the Pacific Ocean are volcanic in nature, with rugged terrain and steep cliffs. In contrast, some of the islands in Oceania are coral atolls, which are low-lying and flat.

Another way in which the physical geography of Oceania differs is in terms of climate. For instance, the islands in the western Pacific, such as Papua New Guinea and the Solomon Islands, experience a tropical climate with high temperatures and rainfall throughout the year. In contrast, the islands in the eastern Pacific, such as Hawaii and French Polynesia, have a more temperate climate with distinct seasons.

Despite these differences, there are also some similarities in the physical geography of Oceania. For example, many of the islands in Oceania are located in areas that are prone to natural disasters such as cyclones, earthquakes, and tsunamis. Additionally, many of the islands in Oceania have unique flora and fauna that have adapted to the island environment, such as the coconut palm and the flying fox.

Overall, the physical geography of Oceania is incredibly diverse and complex, with each country and territory having its own unique features. However, despite these differences, there are also many similarities that unite the region and make it a truly fascinating and important part of the world.

Akhenaten was not liked by the people of Egypt during his reign as pharaoh because he forced them to change their religion from polytheistic to monotheistic. Describe the changes that he tried to make. Based on what you know about Egyptian religion, why do you think this would have been such a large change?

Answers

Answer: Akhenaten (pronounced /ˌækəˈnɑːtən/),[8] also spelled Echnaton,[9] Akhenaton,[3] Ikhnaton,[2] and Khuenaten[10][11] (Ancient Egyptian: ꜣḫ-n-jtn, meaning "Effective for the Aten"), was an ancient Egyptian pharaoh reigning c. 1353–1336[3] or 1351–1334 BC,[4] the tenth ruler of the Eighteenth Dynasty. Before the fifth year of his reign, he was known as Amenhotep IV (Ancient Egyptian: jmn-ḥtp, meaning "Amun is satisfied", Hellenized as Amenophis IV).

Atenism

Akhenaten is noted for abandoning Egypt's traditional polytheistic religion and introducing Atenism, worship centered on Aten. The views of Egyptologists differ whether Atenism should be considered as absolute monotheism, or whether it was monolatry, syncretism, or henotheism.[12][13] This culture shift away from traditional religion was not widely accepted. After his death, Akhenaten's monuments were dismantled and hidden, his statues were destroyed, and his name excluded from lists of rulers compiled by later pharaohs.[14] Traditional religious practice was gradually restored, notably under his close successor Tutankhamun, who changed his name from Tutankhaten early in his reign.[15] When some dozen years later rulers without clear rights of succession from the Eighteenth Dynasty founded a new dynasty, they discredited Akhenaten and his immediate successors, referring to Akhenaten himself as "the enemy" or "that criminal" in archival records.[16][17]

Akhenaten was all but lost to history until the late 19th century discovery of Amarna, or Akhetaten, the new capital city he built for the worship of Aten.[18] Furthermore, in 1907, a mummy that could be Akhenaten's was unearthed from the tomb KV55 in the Valley of the Kings by Edward R. Ayrton. Genetic testing has determined that the man buried in KV55 was Tutankhamun's father,[19] but its identification as Akhenaten has since been questioned.[6][7][20][21][22]

Akhenaten's rediscovery and Flinders Petrie's early excavations at Amarna sparked great public interest in the pharaoh and his queen Nefertiti. He has been described as "enigmatic", "mysterious", "revolutionary", "the greatest idealist of the world", and "the first individual in history", but also as a "heretic", "fanatic", "possibly insane", and "mad".[12][23][24][25][26] The interest comes from his connection with Tutankhamun, the unique style and high quality of the pictorial arts he patronized, and ongoing interest in the religion he attempted to establish.

BRAINLIEST FOR THE CORRECCT ANSWERS!!!!!! How does the rule of law affect society? Check all that apply.

A. It influences people’s behaviors and attitudes.
B. It always prevents lawmakers from abusing power.
C. It ensures the separation of powers.
D. It governs how policies are created.
E. It ensures that the law applies to lawmakers.

Answers

The correct options are:

A. It influences people’s behaviors and attitudes.

C. It ensures the separation of powers.

E. It ensures that the law applies to lawmakers.

Explanation:

The rule of law refers to the idea that everyone is equal under the law and that no one is above it. It helps to promote fairness and justice in society by providing a framework for resolving disputes and holding people accountable for their actions.

Here are the options that correctly describe how the rule of law affects society:

A. It influences people’s behaviors and attitudes. - The rule of law sets a standard for how people should behave and encourages them to follow the law to avoid consequences.

C. It ensures the separation of powers. - The rule of law helps to prevent any one branch of government from becoming too powerful by ensuring that each branch has its responsibilities and limitations.

E. It ensures that the law applies to lawmakers. - The rule of law requires that lawmakers follow the same laws as everyone else, preventing them from abusing their power and ensuring that they are held accountable for their actions.

Option B is incorrect because the rule of law does not always prevent lawmakers from abusing their power. It helps to prevent abuse of power, but it is not foolproof.

Option D is also incorrect because the rule of law governs how laws are enforced, not how policies are created.

Hence, the answers are A, C, and E

A. It influences people’s behaviors and attitudes.
C. It ensures the separation of powers.
E. It ensures that the law applies to lawmakers.

The rule of law is a fundamental principle that ensures that all individuals and institutions are accountable to the law, and that no one is above the law. It influences people's behaviors and attitudes by providing a framework for acceptable conduct, and by establishing clear consequences for violations of the law. It ensures the separation of powers by limiting the authority of each branch of government, and by requiring that each branch operate within its designated sphere of influence. Finally, it ensures that the law applies to lawmakers by subjecting them to the same standards and consequences as other citizens. However, the rule of law does not always prevent lawmakers from abusing power, nor does it govern how policies are created.

What is the largest source of revenue for most states? A. inheritance taxes B. income taxes C. property taxes D. sales taxes WILL MARK brainiest TO THE CORRECT ANSWER

Answers

Answer: D. sales taxes

Explanation: Sales taxes are levied on the sale of goods and services and are typically collected at the point of purchase.  This means that every time you buy something, a percentage of the purchase price goes towards sales tax. The specific rate of sales tax varies from state to state, or in some cases county by county such as in Illinois, with some states having higher rates than others.

Sales taxes are an important source of revenue for states because they can generate a significant amount of money.  This revenue is then used to fund various public services and programs, such as education, healthcare, infrastructure, and public safety.

It's important to note that while sales taxes are generally the largest source of revenue for most states, other sources such as income taxes, property taxes, and inheritance taxes also contribute to state revenues.  However, sales taxes tend to be the primary revenue generator due to their broad base and the fact that they apply to a wide range of transactions.

Research Paper – Roughly 500 words (5-7 paragraphs) about the topic you choose. Your paper should include detailed descriptions of your topic and its importance both during the Renaissance and its impact up through today. Research should be cited appropriately and should include at least 2 appropriate sources of information (NO WIKI!). The research paper should be on Galileo Galilei

Answers

Explanation:

Galileo Galilei was an Italian astronomer, physicist, and mathematician who lived from 1564 to 1642. He is widely considered to be one of the most important scientists of the Renaissance period, and his work had a profound impact on the development of modern science. Galileo made significant contributions to the fields of astronomy, physics, and mathematics, and his work challenged many of the prevailing scientific beliefs of his time.

During the Renaissance, Galileo's work helped to usher in a new era of scientific inquiry and discovery. He was one of the first scientists to use the telescope to study the heavens, and his observations of the moon, planets, and stars revolutionized our understanding of the universe. Galileo's discoveries also challenged the geocentric model of the universe, which held that the Earth was the center of the universe and everything else revolved around it. Galileo's observations of the moons of Jupiter and the phases of Venus provided evidence for the heliocentric model of the solar system, which held that the sun was at the center of the universe.

Galileo's work was not without controversy, however. His support for the heliocentric model and his criticisms of the Catholic Church's interpretation of scripture brought him into conflict with the Church, and he was eventually placed under house arrest for the final years of his life. Despite this, Galileo's work continued to influence scientific thinking and discovery long after his death.

Today, Galileo is remembered as one of the most important figures in the history of science. His contributions to astronomy, physics, and mathematics laid the foundations for much of the scientific research and discovery that followed. Galileo's work also helped to establish the importance of empirical observation and experimentation in scientific inquiry, a principle that remains central to scientific practice today.

In conclusion, Galileo Galilei was a key figure in the Renaissance period who made significant contributions to the fields of astronomy, physics, and mathematics. His work challenged many of the prevailing scientific beliefs of his time and helped to usher in a new era of scientific inquiry and discovery. While his work was not without controversy, his contributions to science have had a lasting impact that can still be felt today.
