The female camel undergoes an estrous cycle in the breeding season which lasts receptive for 3-4 days, and non-receptive following the other 10 days. In the receptive period, the camel sits down and exposes its genitalia for the male camel to copulate. The whole mating takes about 20 minutes and is accompanied by gurgling and frothing by the male and bleating by the females.
It should be noted that African elephants have longer gestation periods like Asian elephants whereas no other animal has a longer gestation period than an elephant or a shorter gestation period than mice.
