In some countries (e.g., France) failing to help in an emergency is a violation of the law. Are so-called "Good Samaritan" laws a good idea or not? Why?

Answers

Answer 1

Answer:

Read below

Explanation:

(this is based on my opinion, since this is an opinion prompt)

I do believe that the Good Samaritan laws are a good idea. This is an especially good idea due to the fact that people may suddenly collapse in public with no trained medical professionals nearby. People may collapse due to choking and lack of air. This person would have a much higher chance if someone were to step in and either preform CPR, the Heimlich Maneuver, or whatever else that person requires in order to survive. If you were to standby and do nothing, and attempt to contact emergency responders, it may already be too late for the victim, the person might end up dying due to the ambulance not arriving on time. If the Good Samaritan law were to be put a stop to, many more people would end up dying in the long run due to there not being any law to protect bystanders who wish to intervene.

how did the age of exploration contribute to european involvement in the african slave tra
de

Answers

The Age of Exploration, which occurred from the 15th to the 17th centuries, played a significant role in European involvement in the African slave trade. Here are some key points to understand this connection:

New World Colonization: The exploration and subsequent colonization of the Americas by European powers created a demand for a large labor force to work in plantations, mines, and other industries. The indigenous populations of the Americas proved inadequate for meeting this demand, leading to the search for alternative sources of labor.

Demand for African Labor: European explorers and traders encountered African societies during their voyages, and they recognized the existence of established slave systems in various African regions. African slaves were seen as a potential solution to the labor shortage in the New World.

African Coastal Trading Networks: European powers established trading posts and forts along the African coast to facilitate their commercial interests, including the acquisition of slaves. They formed alliances with local African rulers and intermediaries, who would capture or purchase slaves from neighboring regions and sell them to the Europeans.

Triangular Trade: The transatlantic slave trade developed as part of a larger network known as the Triangular Trade. European ships sailed from Europe to Africa, where they exchanged goods such as textiles, firearms, and alcohol for enslaved Africans. These enslaved individuals were then transported across the Atlantic Ocean to the Americas, where they were sold for raw materials, such as sugar, tobacco, and cotton. These goods were then transported back to Europe to complete the triangular trade cycle.

Slave Forts and Middle Passage: European powers constructed fortified trading posts, commonly known as slave forts or castles, along the African coast to store enslaved Africans temporarily before their transport across the Atlantic. The captured Africans were forced to endure the brutal Middle Passage, a horrific journey across the Atlantic characterized by overcrowded and unsanitary conditions, which resulted in significant loss of life.

Economic Benefits: The African slave trade became a highly profitable enterprise for European traders, as the demand for enslaved labor in the Americas continued to grow. The exploitation of enslaved Africans contributed to the economic development and wealth accumulation of European nations, particularly those involved in colonial ventures.

It is important to note that the African slave trade was a complex and multifaceted historical phenomenon that involved not only European powers but also African societies and other actors. However, the Age of Exploration and the subsequent colonization of the Americas played a crucial role in initiating and expanding European involvement in the African slave trade.

In early August 1964, two U.S. destroyers stationed in the Gulf of Tonkin in Vietnam radioed that they had been fired upon by North Vietnamese forces. Answer:

Deuteronomy 34:1

The reference to Mt. Pisgah fits with the allusion in the text that Moses had reached the peak of his calling.  Whenever a person attains or reaches the peak of his calling or career, he or she only goes down.

Explanation:

So, by taking Moses to the peak of Mount Nebo, which is called Mt. Pisgah, God was signalling to Moses to prepare for his death and the change of baton to Joshua.  God was also fulfilling His promise that Moses would only view the promised land but would never cross into it.  Mt. The raj succeeded management of the subcontinent by the British East India Company, after general distrust and dissatisfaction with company leadership resulted in a widespread mutiny of sepoy troops in 1857, causing the British to reconsider the structure of governance in India. The British government took possession of the company’s assets and imposed direct rule. The raj was intended to increase Indian participation in governance, but the powerlessness of Indians to determine their own future without the consent of the British led to an increasingly adamant national independence movement.

Troubled Asset Relief Program (TARP) is the program that Congress set up to help Americans pay their debts.

The U.S. Treasury launched and oversaw the Troubled Asset Relief Program (TARP) to stabilise the nation's financial system, boost economic development, and reduce foreclosures in the wake of the 2008 financial crisis. By buying the stock and assets of struggling companies, TARP aimed to reach these goals. As a result of serious financial issues faced by numerous large financial organisations, including Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, and American International Group (AIG), the global credit markets came to a virtual stop in September 2008. After Lehman Brothers filed for bankruptcy, Goldman Sachs and Morgan Stanley converted their corporate status from investment firms to commercial banks in an effort to stabilise their capital positions.

Dred Scott was an enslaved African American man who lived in the United States during the mid-19th century. He was born into slavery in Virginia in 1795 and was taken to Missouri by his owner in 1830.

In 1846, Scott sued for his freedom, arguing that his residence in free states and territories, including Illinois and Wisconsin, had made him free. The case, Dred Scott v. Sandford, went all the way to the United States Supreme Court, which in 1857 issued a landmark decision that denied Scott's claim to freedom and declared that African Americans, whether enslaved or free, could not be considered American citizens and therefore had no right to sue in federal court.
