Discussion Topic Historians tend to see Reconstruction as a mix of successes and failures. Based on what you have learned about the goals and struggles of Reconstruction, in what ways did it succeed? Why do you think so? In what ways did it fail? Why? What ideas do you have for how Reconstruction could have been handled so it would have been more satisfactory for all involved? Would you have changed some of the decisions made by the government? How would you have addressed the strong feelings people had about their culture and way of life? **
Based on what I have learned about Reconstruction, here are my comments.
In what ways did Reconstruction succeed?I think it was a great effort of President Lincoln’s plan to help the nation heal and move past the war quickly. Reconstruction was his idea to heal the wounds of war and to try to unify the divided country.
Why do you think so?
I believe that Lincoln facilitated things for the South to do Reconstruction at their own pace and ways. He did not try to force or impose anything by mere strength of authority. He allowed the Confederates to do things their own way.
In what ways did Reconstruction fail?I think President Lincoln gave them leeway to proceed on their own. Although things changed que he died. President Jackson had to follow up with Reconstruction, and this somehow affected the process.
I also believe that Lincoln's 10 percent plan was not taken seriously by the Southern people to really accept the integration with the North. With this plan, Southern states would be accepted into the Union if 10 percent of citizens pledged the Oath of Allegiance.
What ideas do you have for how Reconstruction could have been handled so it would have been more satisfactory for all involved?
I would have taken more assertive measures to implement Reconstruction in the South. It was clear that black people still suffered from racism in those states.
The way I would have addressed the strong feelings people had about their culture and way of life would have been to be more sensitive about those beliefs, but create reasonable legislation making it clear that the US was one nation, not two divided regions.
Despite the differences, people should behave and integrate as one nation. The nation's interests were far above personal interests.
We conclude that the original idea of President Lincoln was to maintain the unity of the country. That is why after the Union's victory in the Civil War, he facilitated the Reconstruction process for the South.

Cold War image Soviet Union vs USA visual CREDIT ALAMY
The Cold War was a major part of the second half of the 20th century, as tensions arose between two of the world's biggest superpowers over differences in both ideology and philosophy.
Given the name because there was no large-scale fighting directly between the two, the USA and USSR, they instead supported major regional conflicts in various proxy wars.
The struggle for geopolitical dominance between the USA and USSR would instead often flare up indirectly, famously doing so as propaganda campaigns, espionage, rivalry at sports events and in technological competitions such as the Space Race.
The Cold War came to an end until 1991 with the collapse of the USSR, forever changing the world order and ushering in the next era of world politics.

Following the end of the Second World War and the surrender of the Nazis in 1945, the uneasy alliance of the United States, the UK and USSR began to unravel.
By 1948 the Soviets had installed governments in all the Eastern European states liberated by the Red Army.
Fearing permanent Soviet dominance in the region, the Americans and British began to take action to prevent the spread of communism to western European countries.
The Cold War had fully formed by 1947 when US aid provided under the Marshall Plan to western Europe had brought those helped in line with American influence and the Soviets had fully installed openly communist regimes in eastern Europe.
The two sides of the conflict had drawn lines in the sand and the power struggle had properly begun.

b) False.
The notion of using dress to proclaim ideology or membership in a specific group did not originate in the 1960s. Throughout history, various cultures and societies have used clothing and attire as a means of expressing identity, social status, beliefs, and group affiliation.
From ancient civilizations to modern times, clothing has been utilized as a form of communication and self-expression. Whether it be through traditional cultural garments, religious attire, military uniforms, or even fashion trends, people have long used dress to convey their ideologies, affiliations, and belonging to certain groups.
While the 1960s witnessed significant social and cultural changes, including shifts in fashion and the emergence of counter cultural movements, the concept of using clothing to signify ideology or group membership predates that era by centuries.

Gold and silver's mid-19th century discovery largely propelled Western mining to a state of prosperity.
How were mining companies successful?Mining companies with access to machinery and workers surpassed individual miners in discovering considerable gold deposits.
Pikes Peak, Colorado's 1858 gold finding revealed roughly 50,000 prospectors rushing into that area while the most affluent silver mine discovered in Nevada's Comstock Lode emerged in 1859.
Boom towns boomed as a result of varied and impressive volume discoveries from these two minerals alone. These townships magnetized quick-rich-seeking individuals, although it also led to increased crime wavefronts amid widespread violence.

How did the Plague of Justinian affect Christianity? pls i need this for an essay that is due in 1 hour:,)
Answer:
The Plague of Justinian or Justinianic Plague (541–549 AD) was the beginning of the first plague pandemic, the first Old World pandemic of plague, the contagious disease caused by the bacterium Yersinia pestis. The disease afflicted the entire Mediterranean Basin, Europe, and the Near East, severely affecting the Sasanian Empire and the Byzantine Empire and especially its capital, Constantinople.[1][2][3] The plague is named for the Byzantine emperor in Constantinople, Justinian I (r. 527–565) who, according to his court historian Procopius, contracted the disease and recovered in 542, at the height of the epidemic which killed about a fifth of the population in the imperial capital.[1][2] The contagion arrived in Roman Egypt in 541, spread around the Mediterranean Sea until 544, and persisted in Northern Europe and the Arabian Peninsula, until 549.[1]
Explanation:
In 2013, researchers confirmed earlier speculation that the cause of the Plague of Justinian was Yersinia pestis, the same bacterium responsible for the Black Death (1347–1351).[4][5] The latter was much shorter, but still killed an estimated one-third to one-half of Europeans. Ancient and modern Yersinia pestis strains closely related to the ancestor of the Justinian plague strain have been found in Tian Shan, a system of mountain ranges on the borders of Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, and China, suggesting that the Justinian plague originated in or near that region.[6][7]
The Plague of Justinian is the first and the best known outbreak of the first plague pandemic, which continued to recur until the middle of the 8th century.[1][8] Some historians believe the first plague pandemic was one of the deadliest pandemics in history, resulting in the deaths of an estimated 15–100 million people during two centuries of recurrence, a death toll equivalent to 25–60% of Europe's population at the time of the first outbreak.[9][10][11][12] The plague's social and cultural impact has been compared to that of the Black Death (the second plague pandemic) that devastated Eurasia in the 14th century.[13] Research published in 2019 argued that the two-hundred-year-long pandemic's death toll and social effects have been exaggerated, comparing it to the modern third plague pandemic (1855-1960s).[14][15]
