Abdul Qadeer Khan, the developer of Pakistan's nuclear program, admitted to operating a black market in weapons-grade nuclear weapons.
Abdul Qadeer Khan was accused by the U.S. of trading nuclear secrets to neighbor Iran and to North Korea in the 1990s after Washington sanctioned Pakistan for its nuclear weapons program. For 10 years during the Soviet occupation of neighboring Afghanistan, successive U.S. presidents certified Pakistan was not developing nuclear weapons. The certification was necessary under American law to allow U.S. aid to anti-communist Afghan rebels through Pakistan.
A 2003 Congressional Research Report said that while it was difficult to pinpoint the genesis of Pakistan's nuclear cooperation with North Korea, it likely began in the mid-1990s

Evaluate Why was the Soviet victory in Stalingrad so crucial to the defeat of Germany?
The Soviet victory in the Battle of Stalingrad during World War II was a turning point in the conflict and a crucial factor in the eventual defeat of Germany. Several key reasons illustrate the significance of this Soviet triumph.
Firstly, the Battle of Stalingrad marked a major strategic shift in the war. It was one of the largest and bloodiest battles in history, lasting from August 1942 to February 1943. The German army, under Hitler's command, aimed to capture the city of Stalingrad (now Volgograd) to secure the Soviet oil fields in the Caucasus region.
However, the Soviets fiercely defended Stalingrad, turning it into a grueling urban warfare battleground. The Soviet forces, led by General Georgy Zhukov, skillfully employed a combination of street fighting, guerrilla tactics, and a strategic counteroffensive, encircling and trapping the German 6th Army inside the city.
Secondly, the battle had severe consequences for the German military. The German 6th Army, considered one of the best in the world, was completely destroyed. Approximately 300,000 German soldiers were killed or captured, including their commander, Field Marshal Friedrich Paulus, who surrendered against Hitler's orders.
The loss of such a significant force weakened the German military machine & depleted valuable resources. Moreover, the defeat at Stalingrad strained the German war effort, as they were forced to divert troops & supplies to the Eastern Front to recover from the setback.

if you were a pro-slavery advocate, how would you feel about the platform of the newly formed republican party?
As a pro-slavery advocate, I would feel threatened and opposed to the platform of the newly formed Republican Party, which aimed to limit the expansion of slavery in the United States.
The Republican Party was founded in 1854, primarily to combat the expansion of slavery into new territories. Their platform opposed the extension of slavery and supported the rights of African Americans. As a pro-slavery advocate, I would see this platform as a direct threat to the institution of slavery and the power it held in the country.
The Republican Party's stance would challenge the status quo and potentially lead to the eventual abolition of slavery, which would be unacceptable to those who supported it. Therefore, I would likely view the Republican Party with hostility and work against its goals.

In 2021 the National Association of State Boards of Education began searching for a new CEO, to replace their current CEO who would be retiring. After interviewing and scouting potential candidates across the country NASBE eventually decided on bringing Paolo DeMaria into the position.
DeMaria was well known for his success as the superintendent of the state of Ohio, which lead to the decision. Paolo has a 30-year background that will help with further his work as NASBE’s new CEO. The change will be a good fit for both DeMaria and NASBE as they both share the same values in furthering the education of children.
I believe that this is an adaptive change, as the change of CEO is between individuals with similar ideals, ethics and backgrounds. So it will not be threating or jarring for employees to adjust to. However there is potential for this to evolve into an innovative change depending on how DeMaria chooses to lead during his time with NASBE. There is a potential for him to introduce new practices and ethics into the company in order to grow.
In terms of values, I believe there were a few changes with the installation of DeMaria as CEO. With his tenure in education, DeMaria already shares most of the values of NASBE. DeMaria has stated that he wishes to see children be challenged in order to further their education, as well as improve overall literacy and overall development of education across the country. Which is already the goal of NASBE.
I believe this organizational change is very beneficial, both for NASBE and the entire country’s education system. Paolo DeMaria has repeatedly shown his passion for change in children’s education during his tenure as superintendent. I believe that his transition into being NASBE’s CEO only opens more opportunities for there to be meaningful change in how educational organizations operate.
It’s unclear if this change was successful or has had much impact as of yet. Primarily due to the fact the change is still relatively recent, with DeMaria acting in position in January of 2022.
The post provides information about the appointment of Paolo DeMaria as the new CEO of the National Association of State Boards of Education (NASBE) and discusses the potential impact of this organizational change.
Here are some questions that can be asked about the post:
1. Who conducted the search for the new CEO of NASBE?
2. What were the criteria or qualifications considered during the selection process?
3. What specific successes did Paolo DeMaria achieve as the superintendent of the state of Ohio?
4. How does DeMaria's 30-year background contribute to his suitability for the CEO position?
5. What are the shared values between DeMaria and NASBE in terms of furthering children's education?
6. In what ways can DeMaria's appointment be seen as an adaptive change?
7. How might DeMaria's leadership style and practices potentially introduce innovation to NASBE?
8. Are there any specific new practices or ethics that DeMaria is expected to bring to NASBE?
9. How has DeMaria expressed his commitment to challenging children and improving literacy and overall education development?
10. What are the potential benefits and impacts of this organizational change for NASBE and the education system as a whole?
11. Is there any evidence or examples of Paolo DeMaria's previous efforts and passion for change in children's education?
12. How long has DeMaria been in his role as the CEO of NASBE, and what indicators suggest whether the change has been successful or impactful so far?
These questions can help clarify the information provided and provide a deeper understanding of the organizational change and its potential implications.

describe the signs to look for if you suspect a friend may be self-harming
May be acting different more depressed, hiding their arms or legs.
Answer:
Gonna answer this from the perspective of someone who is a former self harmer.
1. Withdrawl from social settings. (I stopped talking to friends / family around the time that my self harm was the worst because I felt like if I did that my secret wouldn't be exposed)
2. Long Pants / Sleeves when its hot out - maybe along with the claim that "Oh I'm always cold." (No. We aren't cold. We're burning up. But we can't risk someone seeing our arms / legs when we've been self harming)
3. More anxiety / depression / anger issues. (These are all heightened while self harming, and sometimes even for awhile after we've stopped.)
4. A change in sleeping / eating habits (I started to sleep and eat less, while also having days where all I did was eat because for the past week I only really had one meal)
This isn't a full list and obviously different signs present in different people. If you suspect a friend is self harming do NOT be confrontational about it. You can bring up the topic in a friendly way and if they deny it to you then don't press on. You can bring it up again, just try to keep it at least a week apart.
It's frustrating to deal with someone who is going through this, I know, but remember that they have feelings as well.
It's best to deal with them as you would a child. Take things slowly and don't get upset or yell when it comes to these topics.
But also - If they do open up to you about their self harm, do as they wish for you to. Don't tell a parent or a counselor even if that seems best because it can also make it worse for them. Respect your friends wishes and don't treat them any different. Just be there for them and support them.
