What three techniques did the Pantheon's builders use to reduce the weight of the concrete dome?

To remove some brickwork and lighten the dome, they created 140 coffers, or waffle-like depressions, in five rows around the base of the dome. Engineers also carved a hole, known as an oculus, at the top of the dome, which lowered some mass and produced the Pantheon's famed daily light show.

BRAINLIST!!!!!!!! QUICK!!! PLEASE HELP :( 2) What is Brancos political ideology? How does his ideology

The debate over raising the federal minimum wage has been ongoing for years.

Proponents of raising the minimum wage argue that it would improve the overall standard of living for minimum wage workers by providing them with a more appropriate income level to handle the cost of living increases.

It would also reduce income, gender, and racial inequalities. Raising the minimum wage to match inflation and productivity would benefit the economy by increasing consumer activity and spurring job growth while lowering the federal deficit.

Opponents of raising the minimum wage argue that it would result in job losses, inflation, and an erosion of competitive advantage. It could also lead to a loss of jobs. However, some studies have shown that raising the minimum wage does not necessarily lead to job losses.

In conclusion, the decision to raise the minimum wage is a complex one, with both pros and cons. It is up to policymakers to weigh the benefits and drawbacks and make a decision that is in the best interest of the country and its citizens.

Discuss Sen's capability approach and sustainable development as approvhrs toward human centered development

Answers

Sen's capability approach and sustainable development are two approaches that contribute to a human-centered development paradigm by emphasizing the well-being and capabilities of individuals and ensuring long-term environmental sustainability.

The capability approach, developed by Nobel laureate Amartya Sen, focuses on enhancing individuals' freedom and capabilities to lead lives they value. It shifts the focus from income and material wealth to what individuals can actually do and be. On the other hand, sustainable development aims to meet the needs of the present generation without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs.

These two approaches are complementary in achieving human-centered development. The capability approach provides a framework for understanding and addressing the diverse needs and aspirations of individuals, focusing on their freedom and agency. It highlights the importance of equity, participation, and social justice in development processes.

By integrating the capability approach and sustainable development, policies and practices can be designed to enhance human well-being, address inequalities, promote social justice, and ensure the preservation of the natural environment for present and future generations. This holistic approach recognizes the intrinsic value of human beings and their interconnectedness with the environment, fostering a more inclusive and sustainable development paradigm.

However, there was still widespread racism and discrimination that made it difficult for African American students to receive a quality education.

1. Social change had the most impact on African Americans. This is because this type of change is directly related to the way African Americans were treated by white people.

African Americans were discriminated against and did not have access to the same opportunities as white people. Segregation kept them from participating in mainstream society. The Brown v. Board of Education ruling helped to break down these barriers.

2. The 15th Amendment granted African American men the right to vote. The 19th Amendment granted women the right to vote. The 26th Amendment lowered the voting age to 18.

Amendments were needed to expand voting rights because the Constitution originally only granted the right to vote to white male property owners. The amendments were needed to correct this unfair and unequal treatment of certain groups of people.

The Nazis' mistreatment of the disabled swiftly worsened after the sterilization drive. Under the guidance of Philip Bouhler and Dr. Karl Brandt, the Nazis launched a "euthanasia" program targeting people with disabilities in the fall of 1939.

This program was given the codename T-4 in honor of Tiergartenstrasse 4, the address of its headquarters. T-4, in contrast to the sterilizing law, was never made public because the Nazis wished to keep the program a secret.

The effort focused on people with impairments who were staying in state-run hospitals or nursing homes. A questionnaire was handed to each patient's doctor and nurse at these facilities. According to representatives of the organization, the questionnaire was designed to collect statistics for the government. The survey's genuine objective, which was to identify victims, was kept a secret.

After being identified, the victims were transported by bus to one of the six murder sites: Brandenburg, Gradfeneck, Bernburg, Sonnenstein, Hartheim, and Hadamar. First, they received a deadly injection to end their lives. Around 1940, carbon monoxide gassing replaced this as a less expensive and more effective means of mass death. Victims were cremated, and their family were informed that they had died naturally.

The Nazis used this method as a starting point for their mass-reproduction of it in extermination camps, which they would eventually perfect.

While being conducted in secret, the program was difficult to keep a secret for long and quickly became widely known. There was widespread public and private outcry over the killings. In a sermon on August 13, 1941, Catholic Church clergyman Clemens August Count von Galen denounced the program.

On August 24, 1941, Hitler publicly ordered a suspension of the initiative in response to popular outcry. The gassing facilities were dismantled and moved to the new camps in the captured east.

Between January 1940 and August 1941, 70,273 persons died at the "euthanasia" centers.

Hitler's public order did not deter calls for the program to proceed decentralizedly.

Throughout the Third Reich, numerous children continued to be killed by starvation or lethal injection in certain hospitals, while those with disabilities continued to be stigmatized as "degenerates" who burdened the broader German "Aryan" race.
