rivers are lentic ecosystems bordered by riparian habitat and absorb oxygen as they flow downhill. which part of this sentence is not true?
The part of the sentence that is not true is "rivers absorb oxygen as they flow downhill."
While it is true that rivers are lentic ecosystems (standing or slow-moving bodies of water) bordered by riparian habitat (the area of land along the banks of a river), the statement that rivers absorb oxygen as they flow downhill is incorrect.
Rivers do not absorb oxygen as they flow downhill. In fact, the primary source of oxygen in rivers comes from the atmosphere through a process called aeration. Oxygen dissolves into the water at the surface through the movement and turbulence caused by flowing water, such as rapids and waterfalls. This aeration process is important for aquatic life as many organisms, such as fish and invertebrates, rely on dissolved oxygen in the water to survive.
Additionally, photosynthesis by aquatic plants and algae also contributes to the oxygen levels in rivers during daylight hours. These plants release oxygen as a byproduct of photosynthesis, which helps oxygenate the water.
It's important to note that while rivers can have varying oxygen levels depending on factors such as temperature, flow rate, and pollution levels, the idea that rivers absorb oxygen as they flow downhill is not accurate.

Read the passage from Sugar Changed the World.
The end of slavery was a great step for human rights. But what did it mean on the sugar plantations—which had depended on extremely cheap labor to keep up with the twenty-four-hour cycle from harvest to mill? In 1836, the same John Gladstone whose sugar estate had exhibited the chained body of the slave leader Quamina wrote to a shipping company. Gladstone asked it to provide a hundred workers (the slang name was "coolies") from India to labor on his plantations. Gladstone's first ships, the Whitby, carrying 249 passengers, and the Hesperus, carrying 244, sailed for Demerara in 1838.
What evidence do the authors include to support the central idea that the sugar plantations' cheap labor source changed from enslaved people to indentured Indians?
The sugar plantations depended on cheap labor.
The sugar plantations had a 24-hour cycle.
Gladstone asked the shipping company to provide workers.
Gladstone exhibited the chained body of Quamina.
Answer:Gladstone asked the shipping company to provide workers.

For the given esteem of f(x)=x/x2−2x isn't continuous then, f(x) isn't nonstop at x = For the given regard of f(x)=x/x2−2x isn't persistent at that point, f(x) isn't persistent at x = and joins a detachable brokenness:
In this case, f(x) isn't characterized at x = 0, which suggests it includes a vertical asymptote or a hole inside the chart at x = 0. f(x) isn't determined at x = 0, 2, and both discontinuities are non-removable: This suggests that f(x) has vertical asymptotes at both x = and x = 2, where the work is vague.
f(x) isn't continuous at x = 2 and encompasses detachable brokenness: Comparable to the primary case, f(x) isn't characterized at x = 2, demonstrating a vertical asymptote or a gap within the chart at x = 2. f(x) isn't nonstop at x = 0, 2, and contains a detachable irregularity at x = 0:
This implies that f(x) isn't characterized at x = and x = 2, with a gap within the chart at x = 0. f(x) is nonstop for all genuine x: In this case, the work f(x) is ceaseless without any indistinct focuses or vertical asymptotes.

The Peanut Man
courtesy of the Library of Congress
George Washington Carver was a person born into slavery in Diamond Grove, Missouri, around 1864. He is one of the nation's most famous agricultural scientists. He is best known for his research on peanuts and his commitment to helping poor Southern African American farmers.
George Washington Carver was always interested in plants. When he was a child, he was known as the "plant doctor." He had a secret garden where he grew all kinds of plants. People would ask him for advice when they had sick plants. Sometimes he'd take their plants to his garden and nurse them back to health.
Later, when he was teaching at Tuskegee Institute, he put his plant skills to good use. Many people in the South had been growing only cotton on their land. Cotton plants use most of the nutrients in the soil. (Nutrients provide nourishment to plants.) So, the soil becomes "worn out" after a few years. Eventually, cotton will no longer grow on this land.
This was especially bad for poor African American farmers, who relied on selling cotton to support themselves. Carver was dedicated to helping those farmers, so he came up with a plan.
Carver knew that certain plants put nutrients back into the soil. One of those plants is the peanut! Peanuts are also a source of protein.
Carver thought that if those farmers planted peanuts, the plants would help restore their soil, provide food for their animals, and provide protein for their families--quite a plant! In 1896 peanuts were not even recognized as a crop in the United States, but Carver would help change that.
Carver told farmers to rotate their crops: plant cotton one year, then the next year plant peanuts and other soil-restoring plants, like peas and sweet potatoes. It worked! The peanut plants grew and produced lots of peanuts. The plants added enough nutrients to the soil so cotton grew the next year. Now the farmers had lots of peanuts--too many for their families and animals--and no place to sell the extras.
Carver invented all kinds of things made from peanuts. He wrote down more than 300 uses for peanuts, including peanut milk, peanut paper, and peanut soap. Carver thought that if farmers started making things out of peanuts, they'd have to buy fewer things and would be more self-sufficient. And if other people started making things out of peanuts, they would want to buy the extra peanuts, so the farmers would make more money. Although not many of Carver's peanut products were ever mass-produced, he did help spread the word about peanuts.
Peanuts became more and more popular. By 1920 there were enough peanut farmers to form the United Peanut Association of America (UPAA). In 1921 the UPAA asked Carver to speak to the U.S. Congress about the many uses for peanuts. Soon the whole country had heard of George Washington Carver, the Peanut Man! And by 1940 peanuts had become one of the top six crops in the U.S.

How does a device know MAC address of destination? The packets are transferred by internet routers from the source network to the destination network and finally to the local area network (LAN) that the target device is connected to. The local network, which changes the IP address into a MAC address, adds the MAC address to the data stream before sending it to the proper device.

Throughout our reading of Inside Out & Back Again, we have discussed that the papaya is a symbol
of hope. At the end of the poem "Wet and Crying,"
what has happened to hope? How does the
author's specific word choice help us understand the main message of this poem? Use specific
evidence from the text to write a paragraph that answers this question.
From reading the poem, we can see that hope was lost too soon, before its time.
We can reach this conclusion because:
The poem shows the uncertainty between cutting the papaya before the right time.Brother Vu, a character featured in the poem, says that it is better to cut the papaya while it is still green, otherwise, the communists will keep it.However, the speaker's mother does not agree and believes that the papaya should only be picked when it is fully ripe, as the children deserve it.Brother Vu decides to cut the papaya and this is a situation of sadness, hopelessness, and loss. This information represents the hope that people have in relation to Vietnam, while some maintained the hope that they would be able to defeat communism and that they would not need to abandon their lands, others lost hope very quickly and decided to leave Vietnam too soon, sad and with tears in the eyes.
To emphasize this type of feeling, the poet uses words such as "cut it down," "still flecked with green," "children should eat fresh fruit" and "eyes wet and crying" that subjunctively highlight the lack of hope in relation to the homeland.
