It is the function of gravity to provide mechanical stress or load to the bones. It is the result of this mechanical stress that bones get the specific density that is required for support.

It is due to this reason that astronauts tend to exercise regularly in space so that their bone density can be maintained.

If bone density is not maintained by gravity, then bones can lose their strength, and hence a body will difficulty in support and movement.

Answers

Fermentation can only take place in an anaerobic environment because yeast is relatively anaerobic. When there is oxygen present, yeast engages in aerobic metabolism.

Can yeast ferment and breathe aerobically?

Yeast fermentation: When oxygen is present, yeast engages in aerobic respiration, converting carbohydrates (a source of sugar) into carbon dioxide and water. In the absence of oxygen, yeast ferments carbohydrates and produces carbon dioxide.

Through the process of electron transfer and oxygen, yeast mitochondria regenerate NAD+. Alcohol and CO2 are created during the fermentation process, which essentially only takes place in the absence of oxygen (resulting in carbonation). What is aldosterone?

Aldosterone is the primary mineralocorticoid steroid hormone generated by the adrenal cortex's zona glomerulosa. It is required for salt retention in the kidney, salivary glands, sweat glands, and colon. The effect of aldosterone is to reduce fluid losses in the kidneys due to Na+ retention. 1)-Would prolyl hydroxylase be more likely to have a magnesium or a cobalt center?
a-Magnesium, because it is commonly found in the extracellular matrix.
b-Magnesium, because it is divalent and readily bonds to other molecules.
c-Cobalt, because it is commonly found in hydroxylases.
d-Cobalt, because it can exist in multiple redox states and is more similar to iron.

Answers

Prolyl hydroxylase be more likely to have a a cobalt center, because it is commonly found in hydroxylases. The correct option is c.

Prolyl hydroxylase is an enzyme involved in the post-translational modification of proteins, specifically in the hydroxylation of proline residues. It is known to require a metal cofactor for its enzymatic activity.

In the case of prolyl hydroxylase, the metal center is commonly a non-heme iron(II) ion. The iron(II) ion plays a crucial role in the catalytic mechanism of prolyl hydroxylase, facilitating the hydroxylation reaction by transferring oxygen from molecular oxygen (O2) to the proline residue.

Therefore, option d: Cobalt, because it can exist in multiple redox states and is more similar to iron, is incorrect. While cobalt can indeed exist in multiple redox states and has some similarities to iron, it is not typically found as the metal center in prolyl hydroxylase.

Options a and b propose magnesium as a potential metal center for prolyl hydroxylase. However, magnesium is unlikely to be the metal center for this enzyme. Magnesium does play important roles in various biological processes and is divalent, but it is not commonly associated with prolyl hydroxylase.

The most appropriate answer is c: Cobalt, because it is commonly found in hydroxylases. While cobalt is not typically associated with prolyl hydroxylase, it is indeed found in other hydroxylases, such as the oxygen-sensing enzymes known as prolyl hydroxylases involved in the regulation of hypoxia-inducible factor (HIF) stability.

In summary, prolyl hydroxylase is more likely to have an iron(II) center rather than a magnesium or cobalt center. Iron(II) is the metal cofactor commonly associated with prolyl hydroxylase, facilitating its enzymatic activity in the hydroxylation of proline residues.

Which two activities provide the reactants for cellular respiration?

releasing air and exercising
breathing in air and exercising
releasing air and eating food
breathing in air and eating food

Answers

Answer:

Breathing in and eating food

Explanation:

To sum it up easily is the reactants for cellular resperation is glucose (sugar) and Oxygen. First we get oxygen from breathing (Obviously). Second we get glucose from eating foods.

The pharynx is where the air and food channels intersect. Air may enter the pharynx via breathing, which always occurs through the mouth or nose. The transition from an airway to a food channel occurs during swallowing. Thus, option D is correct.

What is the importance of cellular respiration in eating food?

The oxygen you breathe is used by your body cells to convert the food you consume into energy. It is known as cellular respiration.

The cell uses oxygen during cellular respiration to metabolize sugar. The energy your body need is created when sugar is broken down.

That implies that you must use more effort to breathe in enough of it when eating. Your lungs and diaphragm are crammed by the food in your stomach, which makes it tougher for them to do their jobs.

Therefore, breathing in air and eating food activities provide the reactants for cellular respiration.

Water transport is the travelling of water from the roots to the leaves of the plants. This is a unidirectional pathway. The roots absorb water from the soil and the transport takes place by means of the xylem components.

Vascular plants exhibit alternation of generation. What is alternation of generation?
© A.
The plant exhibits reduced sporophyte and dominant gametophyte alternately.
B.
Plant cells undergo mitosis and meiosis alternately.
C.
The plant exists as a diploid organism, a and at other times as haploid.

Answers

Answer:

C. The plant exists as a diploid organism, a and at other times as haploid.

Explanation:

Plant generations alternate. They go back and forth between sporophyte and gametophyte.

A gametophyte is a generation. Haploid gametophytes exist. They therefore possess a single pair of chromosomes. Spora are the source of gametophytes. Gametophytes develop into large, tall organisms before producing gametes. Thus, the name. A plant embryo is created when these gametes—which are the sperm and eggs of a plant—combine. This embryo occasionally has a covering of seed surrounding it for protection. In certain cases, the seed is even surrounded by fruit.

the sporophyte develops from the embryo. Sporophytes, like you and I, are diploid. They therefore have two sets of chromosomes that are identical ("di"=2). Sporophytes develop into large, tall organisms before producing spores. Thus, the name. Since meiosis is how these spores are produced, they only contain one set of chromosomes. The spores disperse into the environment and develop into gametophytes.

So, to summarize, gametophyte > gametes > embryo > sporophyte > sporophyte > sopre > gametophyte > gametes > and so on. Until a chance genetic mutation results in a significant alteration.

___________________________________________________

A generation that alternates between haploid and diploid (or tetraploid/diploid, hexaploidy/triploid, etc.) is said to be alternating.

On the surface, this alternating of generations between most land plants resembles animal gametes, but in plants, the cells formed during meiosis are not the gametes themselves; instead, the gametes are later created by those cells during mitosis. Consequently, in place of:

2n -> Meiosis -> n (gamete) -> fusion -> 2n

we have

2n -> meiosis -> n (gametophyte e.g. pollen) -> mitosis -> n (gamete e.g. sperm) -> fusion -> 2n

The haploid generation is morphologically identical to the diploid generation in many lower plants. The dominant theory holds that plants' capacity to go through mitosis after meiosis but before fusion spontaneously developed. The less popular theory contends that plants have alternated generations throughout time and that as land plants got more specialized over time, natural selection drove the gametophyte to drastically decrease over time. These are referred to as the homologous and antithetic hypotheses, respectively.

The primary evolutionary benefit of diploid organisms is their ability to conceal harmful genes using two gene copies. The high level of specialization offered for each generation, one for growth and one for reproduction, is another benefit.
