Which of the following is a result of extensive, active play in young children?
A) mastery of only fine motor skills
B) mastery of only gross motor skills
C) mastery of gross and fine motor skills
D) mastery of coordination

Answers

Extensive, active play in young children results in the Option C. mastery of gross and fine motor skills.

This is because during play, children are required to use their motor skills to interact with their environment and explore the world around them.

Active play provides children with numerous opportunities to practice and improve their motor skills, such as running, jumping, throwing, and catching, which all help in the development of gross motor skills.

Moreover, drawing, coloring, and building blocks help in the development of fine motor skills.

It's important to note that the mastery of motor skills is a continuous process and not something that can be completely mastered at a young age.

Instead, continued practice and exposure to different types of activities and experiences help refine motor skills and support ongoing development and learning.

By encouraging active play, children are able to enhance their motor skills, which in turn helps improve their physical, social, emotional, and cognitive development.

Therefore, Option C is correct.

When I got up to work today, I can't imagine how scared I would be, because the accident at work that hurt my colleagues was a little scary, but we knew it would happen sooner or later.

The day started normally and when I arrived at my workplace I wasn't even scared by the noise and excess heat of the environment. I'm used to it after the eight-hour workday I've been following for an year.

The thing that rocked my routine happened when I heard screams of pain coming from the back of the room. I ran to see what happened when I came across two colleagues who had suffered massive burns and were in a lot of pain.

The burn came from the machines we work with, which get extremely hot when they are working. We don't have any equipment to protect us from that, which shows that this kind of accident would happen at any time.

Fortunately, my colleagues received medical care, which took a long time to arrive, but my friends were helped and needed to spend a few days at home to recover.

Full Question:

Van Gogh was a tormented, genius artist. Born on March 30, 1853, he suffered much in his lifetime. Some historians say that the reason Van Gogh was such a depressed man was because his mother bore a child named Vincent who died at birth exactly one year before Vincent, the artist, was born. Perhaps because of this family tragedy, he always felt that he was an inadequate substitute for the first Vincent his mother lost. However, this is a theory that has yet to be supported with historical evidence.

Vincent van Gogh loved English life. In fact, he spent many years as an art dealer in England and loved English art and literature. This would later influence his career as an artist. In the 1870s, Van Gogh taught at various boys' schools and studied the Bible. Even while teaching, he visited art galleries. He made a determined effort to become a minister, but he was not a gifted preacher, and he failed in his studies of Greek, Latin, and mathematics. Though he was dismissed by the Church, he still ministered to the poor, to the point of giving away all his own provisions to the needy.

It was a pivotal moment in his life when he walked seventy kilometers to visit the French painter, Jules Breton. Shyness overcame him, and he never knocked at the painter's door, but from that point on, Van Gogh began to sketch. While studying art, Van Gogh lived in poverty and blundered through a series of failed relationships.

In 1883, Van Gogh moved from sketching and drawing to painting with oil paints. He wandered through the Netherlands, painting the landscape and the people. He enjoyed painting peasant life because he always identified with poor laborers. During this period in his life, Van Gogh painted some of the works for which he would later be universally known.

What correctly identifies the sequence of events in "A Tormented Genius"?

Answer choices

Vincent van Gogh ministered to the poor, suffered from mental illness, painted "Starry Night," and was dismissed by the Church.

Vincent van Gogh spent years as an art dealer, taught at various boys' schools, traveled to visit Jules Breton, and wandered the Netherlands painting.

Vincent van Gogh studied the Bible, tried to become a minister, acquired fame for his art, and met French painter, Jules Breton.

Write a 200 word reflection about transcendentalism today in class

you may choose to include, for example, any salient points, general connections that you made between the material and other topics, you opinion about any of the characteristics of transcendentalism, a discussion of a person who you think is a low-key transcendentalist, the value of approaching life like a transcendentalist, etc.

Answers

During the class discussion on transcendentalism, I found it intriguing to explore the relevance of this philosophical movement in today's world.

I made connections between the principles of transcendentalism and various aspects of modern society, and I also formed my own opinion about its characteristics. Additionally, I discussed a person who I believe embodies a low-key transcendentalist, and I reflected on the value of approaching life with a transcendentalist mindset.

In our class discussion on transcendentalism, I found that many of its principles still hold relevance in today's world. The emphasis on individualism and self-reliance resonated with me, as I reflected on the importance of staying true to oneself and following one's own path in a society that often pressures conformity. The idea of connecting with nature and finding spiritual fulfillment outside of organized religion also struck a chord, as I considered the growing movement towards mindfulness, eco-consciousness, and alternative spiritual practices.

Approaching life with a transcendentalist mindset can be valuable in today's fast-paced and materialistic society. It encourages us to slow down, appreciate the beauty around us, and strive for inner peace and fulfillment. It promotes critical thinking, self-reflection, and the pursuit of truth and authenticity. By embracing transcendentalist principles, we can cultivate a sense of purpose, deepen our connection with nature, and contribute to a more balanced and conscious society.

What is 'Hound of Baskervilles' ?

The third of four crime novels by British author Arthur Conan Doyle that feature the detective Sherlock Holmes is titled The Hound of the Baskervilles.

It tells the tale of an attempted murder that was motivated by the lore of a ferocious, demonic hound with supernatural origins and was first serialised in The Strand Magazine from August 1901 to April 1902. The story is set in 1889, primarily on Dartmoor in Devon in England's West Country, and it is largely set there.

The killer in the story is Mr Stapleton. By having Sir Henry accept an invitation to Stapleton's home and walk back after dark, allowing his adversary every chance to release the dog on him, Holmes decides to use Baskerville as bait to catch Stapleton unprepared.

While Inspector Lestrade of Scotland Yard and Holmes and Watson hide nearby Stapleton's house, they pretend to depart Dartmoor by train. When the hound approaches Sir Henry, Holmes and Watson are able to kill it despite the darkness and heavy fog.
