What idea does Jordan use to support her claim that more legislation will not improve race relations in the United States

Answers

Answer 1

In "The New Jim Crow," Michelle Alexander states that relying solely on legislative reforms for a lasting resolution to issues of race and mass imprisonment in the United States is unlikely to succeed.

Michelle Alexander argues in "The New Jim Crow" that depending exclusively on legislative reforms for a long-term resolution to issues of race and mass imprisonment in the United States is unlikely to succeed. This is the idea that Jordan uses to support her claim that more legislation will not improve race relations in the United States.

According to Jordan, legislation can only be helpful if it is linked with a movement for change that includes the legal system as well as grassroots social and political movements. The legislation will only become a component of a more significant transformative process when this occurs.

However, when reform is driven by the political establishment rather than by people on the ground who are directly impacted by the injustices, it is unlikely to have a significant effect on real change.

Deadlift - the bar is lifted upward in a linear fashion (straight line) with the body segments moving in a rotary manner around an axis of rotation (joint). True or False?

Answers

The statement is false. The deadlift exercise, which is a type of weightlifting exercise, involves lifting a barbell from the floor to a standing position.

During the deadlift, the body segments do not move in a purely linear fashion (straight line) but rather involve a combination of linear and rotary movements. The barbell is typically lifted in a straight vertical path, but the body segments, including the hips, knees, and spine, move in a rotary manner around their respective joint axes of rotation. This allows for proper biomechanics and efficient transfer of force, making the deadlift a complex movement that requires proper technique and form to perform safely and effectively.

In developing countries is lack of access to technology one of
the most critical to the globe’s population.

Answers

Yes, lack of access to technology is one of the most critical issues facing the globe's population, especially in developing countries. Technology plays a vital role in today's world, where most aspects of daily life are dependent on it.

Technology has the potential to boost productivity, create employment opportunities, and enhance communication between people. However, developing countries, particularly those in Africa, have a limited number of people with access to technology. This lack of access to technology is due to a variety of reasons, including poor infrastructure, low levels of literacy, and a lack of funding to invest in technology.

Lack of access to technology in developing countries can also have a significant impact on health and education. For example, telemedicine, which is the use of technology to provide medical services, can be used to diagnose and treat illnesses in remote areas where healthcare is inaccessible. The use of technology can also enhance education by providing access to online learning platforms, educational materials, and virtual classrooms.

what is the most important influence that moderates the temperatures thought western europe?

Answers

Due to the Gulf Stream's impact, Western Europe has a milder climate than other regions of the world at the same latitude.

How does the climate in Europe change as a result of the Gulf Stream?

The Gulf Stream influences the climate by bringing warmth from the equator to northern latitudes, keeping Europe warm. The Gulf Stream is an ocean current that carries this warm water. The water then makes its way north along North America's eastern coast, arriving in Europe after roughly six months.

The Gulf Stream brings what kind of weather?

The range of temperatures is from 7 to 22 degrees Celsius. The warmest, dark-reddish water, which is the Gulf Stream's core, is particularly noticeable. It sets sail from North Carolina's Cape Hatteras. The warmer outflows from the Chesapeake and Delaware Bays are entrained by the cool, shelf water from the north.

What conditions led to starvation and what characteristics of the colonists
contributed to this problem?

Answers

Answer:

Picking a poor settlement for hunting and fresh water, not familiar with farming, unable to make alliance with Native Americans, lack of supply ships from England

Explanation:

The English settlement at Jamestown had been established on May 24, 1607, with the arrival of three ships commanded by Captain Christopher Newport. The initial small group of 104 men and boys chose the location because it was favorable for defensive purposes, but it offered poor hunting prospects and a shortage of drinking water. Although they did some farming, few of the original settlers were accustomed to manual labor or familiar with farming. Hunting on the island was poor, and they quickly exhausted the supply of small game. The colonists were largely dependent upon trade with the Native Americans and periodic supply ships from England for their food.  A series of incidents with the Native Americans soon developed into serious conflicts, ending any hope of a commercial alliance with them. This forced the settlers into close quarters, behind fortified walls, severely limiting their ability to farm the area and trade with other Indian tribes. Various attempts at farming led to kidnappings and killings by the Powhatans, while expeditions to establish relations with other Native Americans resulted either in the emissaries being ambushed and killed by the Powhatans, or proved fruitless in gaining sufficient supplies.[citation needed] The combination of disease, killings, and kidnapping almost obliterated the initial English population.

According to decay theory, the memory trace for Roberto's third-grade teacher should be unavailable after 40 years, as memories that are not reinforced or used over time may fade and decay, making them no longer available for retrieval. Therefore, the correct answer is (c) unavailable.

This means that the memory may no longer be stored in his long-term memory and therefore cannot be retrieved. However, it is important to note that just because a memory is currently unavailable does not necessarily mean it is lost forever.

Memories can potentially be retrieved with the right cues or triggers. Additionally, there may be other factors at play, such as interference or the context in which the memory was encoded, that could also impact the accessibility of the memory trace.
