Answers

The collapse of the Roman Empire most likely helped empower the Catholic Church because many Europeans yearned for a strong force to unite them. The pope could seize control after the Roman emperor was gone.

With the collapse of the Roman Empire in the 5th century, Europe entered a period of political fragmentation and instability. The vacuum left by the declining imperial authority created a power vacuum that the Catholic Church was able to fill. As Europe faced external threats and internal divisions, many people longed for a unifying force that could provide stability and a sense of community. The Catholic Church, with its hierarchical structure, extensive network, and religious authority, offered a sense of continuity and unity in the absence of a centralized political power.

Furthermore, the decline of imperial control allowed the pope, as the leader of the Catholic Church, to expand his influence and political power. Without a strong Roman emperor to challenge or interfere with the church's affairs, the pope could assert greater control over religious and secular matters. This increased authority enabled the Catholic Church to play a significant role in shaping the political, social, and cultural landscape of medieval Europe.

what are 2 examples of individuals rights in the constitution? (please include the article, section, and clause)

Answers

Answer:

Individual rights are those considered so essential that they warrant specific statutory protection from interference. While the U.S. Constitution, for example, divides and restricts the powers of the federal and state governments to check their own and each other’s power, it also expressly ensures and protects certain rights and liberties of individuals from government interference. Most of these rights, such as the First Amendment’s prohibition of government actions that limit the freedom of speech and the Second Amendment's protection of the right to keep and bear arms, are enshrined in the Bill of Rights. Other individual rights, however, are established throughout the Constitution, such as the right to trial by jury in Article III and the Sixth Amendment, and the Due Process of Law Clause found in the post-Civil War Fourteenth Amendment.

What Is the Bill of Rights?

Many individual rights protected by the Constitution deal with criminal justice, such as the Fourth Amendment’s prohibition against unreasonable governmental searches and seizures and the Fifth Amendment’s well-known right against self-incrimination. Other individual rights are established by the U.S. Supreme Court in its interpretations of the often vaguely worded rights found in the Constitution.

Individual rights are often considered in contrast to group rights, the rights of groups based on the enduring characteristics of their members. Examples of group rights include the rights of an indigenous people that its culture should be respected and the rights of a religious group that it should be free to engage in collective expressions of its faith and that its sacred sites and symbols should not be desecrated.

kiev traded all of the following goods with the greeks except?

Answers

Kiev, the capital city of Ukraine, had extensive trade connections with various civilizations throughout its history. When it comes to trade with the Greeks, Kiev engaged in a vibrant exchange of goods and ideas. However, there is no historical evidence to suggest that Kiev traded all of the following goods with the Greeks:

1. Furs: Kiev was known for its abundant fur resources, particularly from animals such as beavers, foxes, and sables. These furs were highly sought after commodities in the medieval European market. Kiev's geographical location and proximity to vast forests made it a significant hub for fur trade, but there is no direct evidence of fur trade between Kiev and the Greeks.

2. Amber: Amber, a fossilized tree resin, was a valuable commodity in the ancient world. It was highly prized for its beauty and believed to possess healing properties. The Baltic region, including present-day Ukraine, was a major source of amber. While the Greeks had access to Baltic amber through trade routes, there is no specific mention of Kiev's involvement in the amber trade with the Greeks.

3. Honey: Kiev, located in the fertile lands of Eastern Europe, had a thriving beekeeping industry. Honey production was an essential part of the region's economy, and it was widely traded both within the region and beyond. However, there is no clear historical record of direct honey trade between Kiev and the Greeks.

It is important to note that historical records may have limitations, and new discoveries can alter our understanding of ancient trade networks. However, based on the available information, there is no definitive evidence to suggest that Kiev traded all of the mentioned goods (furs, amber, and honey) with the Greeks.

Father Charles E. Coughlin was a radio personality who strongly criticized the New Deal. Here's an editorial expressing why readers should oppose Coughlin's viewpoint: Few things in history have divided Americans like the New Deal. While some say that Franklin D. Roosevelt's reforms helped lift the nation out of the Great Depression.

Others like Father Charles E. Coughlin have criticized the policies as ineffective and damaging. However, Coughlin's opposition to the New Deal is misguided and should not be supported.Coughlin's primary concern with the New Deal is that it expands the federal government's power beyond what is necessary and desirable. In his opinion, the government should only have limited control over people's lives and businesses. He also believes that the New Deal does not do enough to protect Americans' economic freedoms or address the underlying causes of the Depression. However, Coughlin fails to recognize that the government must take a more active role in addressing economic issues during times of crisis. By providing aid to struggling businesses and creating jobs through public works projects, the New Deal helped stabilize the economy and prevent further suffering. Furthermore, the New Deal's social safety net programs, such as Social Security and unemployment insurance, have provided critical support to millions of Americans who would otherwise be destitute.Although Coughlin's opposition to the New Deal may seem appealing to some, it is important to recognize that his arguments are flawed. The New Deal's policies were necessary to protect Americans from the worst effects of the Great Depression, and they laid the foundation for many of the social welfare programs that we still rely on today.

QUESTION 3: APARTHEID SOUTH AFRICA-1940s TO 1960s KEY QUESTION: HOW DID THE APARTHEID LAWS VIOLATE THE HUMAN RIGHTS OF PEOPLE IN SOUTH AFRICA? SOURCE A This source deals with some of the reasons for the implementation of Apartheid and was taken from History of Southern Africa by K. Shillington. In the words of one of the architects of apartheid, H.F. Verwoerd, Minister of Bantu Administration, and later Prime Minister (1958-66) there was no place for blacks in the European community above the level of labourer. To offer blacks the same education as whites, he argued, would mislead them by showing them the green pastures of European society which they were not allowed to graze. The apartheid laws were not only the racist views of Afrikaner nationalists, but some of them also had specific advantages for capitalist employers who paid blacks low wages and made huge profits. Blacks, who formed the bulk of the working class, were kept in a subordinate position with laws such as the Industrial Reconciliation Act, Mine and Workers Act and the Civilised Labour Policy. The National Party was returned to office with greatly increased majorities in the general elections of the 1950s and 1960s. The principle of design used in this portrait of George Washington is emphasis vs subordination.

Emphasis vs subordination is a principle of design that involves creating a visual hierarchy of elements in a composition. In this portrait, the artist has used various techniques to emphasize Washington's face, such as placing him in the center of the composition and using brighter colors and sharper lines to define his features. The other elements in the composition, such as the background and Washington's clothing, are subordinate to his face and serve to enhance the overall emphasis on him as the subject. Nonlinear lines and primary colors are specific techniques that could be used to achieve this principle, but they are not the principle itself.
