A. Paintings were done with the intent of making a pleasant afterlife for the deceased
B. Paintings were done in true fresco style: i.e., applied directly to wet plaster
C. The main colors were red, blue, black, gold, and green
D. Paintings were created so as to show a profile view and a side view of the animal or person

The statement "Paintings were done in true fresco style: i.e., applied directly to wet plaster." s NOT true of Egyptian paintings of The Early Dynastic Period. The correct option is "B".
The statement that paintings of the Early Dynastic Period were done in true fresco style, i.e., applied directly to wet plaster, is NOT true. Egyptian paintings of the Early Dynastic Period were not executed using the fresco technique. Instead, they were done on various surfaces such as wood, stone, or pottery using pigments mixed with a binding medium. This technique, known as tempera or encaustic painting, allowed for more flexibility in the creation of artworks.
True fresco involves applying pigments to wet plaster, which then become an integral part of the wall surface when the plaster dries. While true fresco was employed in other ancient cultures, such as ancient Greece, it was not a characteristic of Egyptian paintings during the Early Dynastic Period.
The correct option is "B".

what is chopin's etude, op. 10, no. 12 (revolutionary) believed to have been inspired by?
he learned of Poland's humiliating defeat to Imperial Russia. It is believed that Chopin's reaction to this news lead to the composition of the famous “Revolutionary” étude that concludes the opus 10 set. When published in 1833, the études were dedicated to Franz Liszt, whom Chopin had met in Paris
Chopin's Revolutionary étude, op. 10, no. 12 is believed to have been inspired by the composer's strong feelings for his homeland in Poland, as demonstrated by an impassioned dotted-rhythm melody in the right hand, accompanied by dazzling sixteenth notes in the left hand, and the use of a minor key.
The technique needed in the opening bars of Op. 10, No. 12 plays long, loud descent lines that create a dominant minor ninth chord introductory build-up to the central theme. The "Revolutionary" stands apart from other études due to the duration and repetition of these quick movements.
The left-hand fingering scales and arpeggios are the main focus of the remaining verse. The right hand's robust chordal foundation and the opening theme's challenging quick leaps make it a favorite among professional pianists to play the dotted rhythms out of time.

When authorities discovered McCandless's body, the author Jon Krakauer reported on the case. Throughout the book, Krakauer chronicles his own journey as he retraces McCandless's steps and tries to understand what caused this young man to go out into the wild. The Spaniards introduced leche flan, pastillas de leche, and yemas in the
Philippines. Egg yolk is the main ingredient of these desserts and separated from
egg whites. According to historians, egg whites were used as ingredient of mortars.
These are used to bind materials for the construction of churches and other
architectural structures during Spanish colonial period in the Philippines. The egg
yolks and egg white were separated. The egg whites were mixed with lime, sand,
water, and some special ingredients to make the mortar. The egg yolks, instead of
being discarded, were used to make leche flans and other delicacies.
What Do You Think?
1. If the church builders used egg white as a binder for mortars to build
churches during Spanish colonial period, do you think we can still use egg
white as one of the materials in building structures at present? Why or why
not?
While egg whites may have been a viable option for mortar binders in the past, it is not a practical or advisable option for modern construction purposes.
It is unlikely that egg whites would be used as a binder for mortars in modern construction for several reasons.
Firstly, there are now many modern construction materials and techniques that are more efficient and effective than traditional mortar, and which are more widely used in contemporary building construction.
Secondly, the use of egg whites as a binder for mortar was likely due to a lack of other binding materials during the Spanish colonial period in the Philippines. Today, there are many other, more specialized binding materials available that are designed specifically for use in construction, such as Portland cement and various types of adhesives.
Finally, using egg whites as a binder would also present challenges in terms of consistency and durability, as it would be difficult to achieve a consistent mixture and the egg whites may not hold up well over time, particularly in harsh weather conditions.

why do astronomers believe that triton is a captured moon?
Astronomers believe that Triton is a captured moon because it has a retrograde orbit around Neptune, meaning it orbits in the opposite direction to Neptune's rotation.
Additionally, Triton's composition and surface features suggest that it originated in the Kuiper Belt, a region of the outer solar system where many icy objects like comets are found. This is further evidence that Triton was not formed in place with Neptune but was instead captured from the Kuiper Belt.
Astronomers believe that Triton is a captured moon due to several reasons, including its retrograde orbit, its composition, and its geological activity.
1. Retrograde orbit: Triton orbits Neptune in the opposite direction of the planet's rotation. This unusual behavior suggests that Triton was not originally part of Neptune's system but was later captured by the planet's gravity.
2. Composition: Triton has a composition similar to that of Pluto and other objects in the Kuiper Belt, which is a region of space beyond Neptune's orbit. This similarity indicates that Triton may have originated in the Kuiper Belt before being captured by Neptune.
3. Geological activity: Triton shows signs of geological activity, such as cryovolcanism and an atmosphere, which are unusual for a moon of its size and distance from the Sun. This activity could be the result of tidal heating caused by the gravitational interaction between Triton and Neptune, further supporting the idea that Triton was once an independent object that was later captured.
In conclusion, astronomers believe that Triton is a captured moon due to its retrograde orbit, its similar composition to objects in the Kuiper Belt, and its geological activity.

Dürer's Rhinoceros
Answer:
This painting is by Géricault called, The Raft of the Medusa. The artist has effectively used space by first creating a triangular shape with the raft and bodies of the men acting as the base. Everything in the painting then leads up to the man waving the flag (center, top-right). We also see shade and shadow among the people and the sails, which gives it depth and also helps to again direct our eyes. There is also an element of sfumato used by the artist in the sea and the ocean, in order to emphasize the raft in the forefront, and to create a sense of mystery and fear.

FLAGSTAFF, Arizona (Achieve3000, March 22, 2018). Omar Ndiaye plays basketball at Northern Arizona University in the U.S. During practice, he hits long three-point shots with a flick of his wrist. He has the same springy legs as his teammates and is just as quick off the dribble. There is only one difference between Ndiaye and his teammates: Ndiaye plays with one hand.
Anyone familiar with basketball understands the skill it takes. Basketball is played by two teams trying to get possession of a ball. Each team has five players on the court at a time. They dribble, pass, and try to shoot the ball through a hoop to score points. Players rely on strong legs, quick reactions, and—usually—two hands. At the college level, basketball teams can be found in Australia, Canada, Germany, Mexico, the U.S., and many other countries, and the games can be intense.
Born without a right hand, U.S. player Ndiaye overcame seemingly impossible odds. It took more than talent to achieve his dream of becoming a top-level college basketball player.
"It is amazing what he can do with one hand, things we take for granted in life like tying his shoes," said Northern Arizona coach Jack Murphy. "He's one of the toughest kids I know."
Growing up, Ndiaye never let the lack of a right hand get in his way. He started playing sports at an early age. He tried everything from football, soccer, swimming, and baseball. In baseball, he learned how to catch the ball with the baseball glove on his left hand. He'd then take off the glove so he could throw the ball back. In basketball, Ndiaye spent hours experimenting with how to dribble, catch the ball, and hold it so he could shoot baskets.
"It was a lot of reps, just trying to figure stuff out," he said. "I didn't… think too much. I just did
it. [It was] a lot of going into my backyard and figuring it out, shooting, how to hold the ball. I felt like it came naturally to me."
The extra work paid off. Ndiaye was one of the best players on his high school basketball team. He was even one of the best in his city. He averaged 21 points, eight assists, five rebounds, and two steals per game. People were amazed that someone with only one hand could be a high school basketball star.
After high school, Ndiaye went to Northern Arizona University. He wasn't given a basketball scholarship, or even recruited by his college team. But he was given the chance by Coach Murphy to prove his skills as a "walk-on." Walk-on players must practice with the team. They have to prove that they are good enough to play. For Ndiaye, it was like an impossible dream come true.
"I always had the thought about it, but I didn't know it could come true," he said. "I've dreamed about it my whole life. It's also very tough…because a lot isn't guaranteed as a walk-on, but you have to come in with the same mentality, just trying to work hard and make your team better."
Ndiaye provides energy, effort, and encouragement to his team.
"When I show [my team members] I can do things with one hand, it gets them going and [lets them] know they can work harder, too," he said.
Ndiaye also encourages younger students at youth basketball camps.
"[Kids] definitely ask…how I do it," Ndiaye said. "I always let them know if they have confidence in themselves they can do anything. They see me doing it with one hand, [and] the sky's the limit for them."
Ndiaye's plans to become a motivational speaker after college. He certainly has a great story to tell.

Post-impressionist artists, such as Georges Seurat, looked back to impressionist methods and added a formal structure to their work by using techniques like pointillism and a more systematic approach to color and composition. This allowed them to create a balanced and cohesive visual experience while still capturing the essence of impressionism.
Some post-impressionist artists, like Georges Seurat in "A Sunday on La Grande Jatte," looked back to impressionist methods and added a formal structure to their work, using pointillism or divisionism. They applied small dots or strokes of pure color to create an optical blending effect, rather than mixing colors on the palette. This technique allowed for a greater range of hues and a more controlled color harmony. The formal structure in their work was achieved through careful composition and the use of geometric shapes to create a sense of balance and order.
