Explain the war crimes and punishment. In the Odyssey.

Answers

Answer: War was never a no-holds-barred fight between opposing states. War is somewhat like boxing, with rules of conduct extending well back into antiquity. For example, when Odysseus counseled the Greek leaders to blockade shipments of food to Troy in an effort to end what had become a protracted siege, his idea was rejected. At that time, it was widely regarded as improper to extend war to noncombatants in the general population by starving them into submission (this may have been based less on humanitarianism than on the value of the enemy's women and children as slaves). It is noteworthy, too, that Odysseus' successful strategy—celebrated "gift" of a horse that ended the Trojan siege and won the war for the Greeks—which brought victory was regarded as somewhat ignoble, since it was obtained through deceit. In fact, had the Trojans managed to win the war despite the Greeks' ploy, Odysseus might have been vilified as the first war criminal rather than celebrated as one of antiquity's heroes. The Nazi defendant Hermann Göring went further, claiming at his trial following World War II that the most important factor in being charged as a war criminal is to be on the losing side. Although there is certainly a much greater chance of this happening to someone on the losing than the winning side, there is far more to being charged with war crimes than simply losing the contest.

T/F: These Jewish leaders were not concerned about any ordinary grave robbers, but rather that the disciples would come and steal Jesus' body.

Answers

True. These Jewish leaders were not concerned about any ordinary grave robbers, but rather that the disciples would come and steal Jesus' body.

The Jewish leaders were not concerned about ordinary grave robbers stealing the body of Jesus, but they were afraid that the disciples would come and steal His body and then claim that He had risen from the dead as He had predicted.

They went to Pilate and asked him to place a guard at the tomb to prevent any such occurrence.

In Matthew 27:62-66, the Jewish leaders approached Pilate and requested that he secure Jesus' tomb because they were concerned that the disciples would come and steal Jesus' body, and then falsely claim that He had risen from the dead. The Jewish leaders were not concerned about ordinary grave robbers, as stealing bodies from tombs was not an uncommon practice at that time.

How does the constant interest in other people's business have the potential to make people suspicious of each other? What role do you think rumor has in the creation of hysteria?

Answers

Answer and Explanation:

1. Because the extreme interest gives the feeling of collecting information, that is, when a person has a very high interest in their business and without reason, it passes the information that they are trying to capture information about you and your business, in general . This information can reveal things you don't want, or it can make you vulnerable to that person, who can plot something to destroy you. This creates distrust.

2. The rumor makes a community believe an unrealistic and negative story about something or someone that is real. This generates fear in a community, as it can cause everyone to be afraid that the negative results of this rumor will afflict them. In this way, the community will try, in vain, to eliminate the source of the rumor, but since it does not exist, they will not succeed and will be terrified and obsessed with getting rid of it, thus causing hysteria.

Bob Cratchit's Speech

"A Merry Christmas to us all, my dears. God bless us."

Which all the family re-echoed.

"God bless us every one!" said Tiny Tim, the last of all.

He sat very close to his father's side upon his little stool. Bob held his withered little hand in his, as if he loved the child, and wished to keep him by his side, and dreaded that he might be taken from him.

"Spirit," said Scrooge, with an interest he had never felt before, "tell me if Tiny Tim will live."

"I see a vacant seat," replied the Ghost, "in the poor chimney-corner, and a crutch without an owner, carefully preserved. If these shadows remain unaltered by the Future, the child will die."

"No, no," said Scrooge. "Oh, no, kind Spirit. Say he will be spared."

"If these shadows remain unaltered by the Future, none other of my race," returned the Ghost, "will find him here. What then? If he be like to die, he had better do it, and decrease the surplus population."

Scrooge hung his head to hear his own words quoted by the Spirit, and was overcome with penitence and grief.

"Man," said the Ghost, "if man you be in heart, not adamant, forbear that wicked cant until you have discovered What the surplus is, and Where it is. Will you decide what men shall live, what men shall die? It may be, that in the sight of Heaven, you are more worthless and less fit to live than millions like this poor man's child. Oh God! To hear the Insect on the leaf pronouncing on the too much life among his hungry brothers in the dust."

Scrooge bent before the Ghost's rebuke, and trembling cast his eyes upon the ground. But he raised them speedily, on hearing his own name.

"Mr. Scrooge!" said Bob; "I'll give you Mr. Scrooge, the Founder of the Feast!"

"The Founder of the Feast indeed!" cried Mrs Cratchit, reddening. "I wish I had him here. I'd give him a piece of my mind to feast upon, and I hope he'd have a good appetite for it."

"My dear," said Bob, "the children. Christmas Day."

"It should be Christmas Day, I am sure," said she, "on which one drinks the health of such an odious, stingy, hard, unfeeling man as Mr. Scrooge. You know he is, Robert. Nobody knows it better than you do, poor fellow."

"My dear," was Bob's mild answer, "Christmas Day."

"I'll drink his health for your sake and the Day's," said Mrs. Cratchit, "not for his. Long life to him. A Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! He'll be very merry and very happy, I have no doubt!"

The children drank the toast after her. It was the first of their proceedings which had no heartiness. [Stave Three, "The Second of the Three Spirits," p. 27-28]

Fellow Oceanian citizens,

We are gathered here today to fight together against Big Brother's repressive government. We have lived in a world of lies and deceit, of fear and pain, for far too long. Our freedom has been taken away from us, and we are now compelled to exist in a society where our fundamental human rights are ignored.

We reside in a world of oppression and injustice, one in which our individuality is repressed and our voices are stifled. It is time for us to stand up and recover our rights, freedom, and way of life. For both our freedom and the freedom of upcoming generations, we must fight.

It is time for us to come together and create a better future for ourselves and our children. We must fight for our rights and our freedom. We must take a stand and no longer allow ourselves to be oppressed and manipulated. We must take action and take control of our own lives.

It is time for us to spark a rebellion against Big Brother and take back our rights and our freedom. Let us join together and fight for our cause. Let us stand together and fight for a better future.

Let us rise up and fight for our freedom!

Hey CAN ANYONE PLS TELL ME HOW RACISM impacts YA life and what you wish others knew bout the real you, which the type they can't see.

Answers

Reply:

I am not a person of color but when I hear of racism it makes me angry. I think people of color and everyone in general look lovely no matter what! I've never understood why people are racist in the first place. What is so different about being a different shade? The other part of racism, as in, I'm American and you're Chinese (example). Actual race and culture is not something racism should be getting at either. Racism shouldn't be a thing, I do wish it wasn't. I hope others can agree. It impacts my life because it hurts to see people getting treated in such horrid ways because of racism and just the way it impacts the world in general.

I think some of the first things people notice about me is that I'm thin, and pale. As that kind of person I feel that in society, I am seen like every other female around me. I also feel as though society sees me as something I'm not because they don't care to know what I truly am and what I truly mean to speak and do.

My personality can be soft, enlightened, along with the fact that I'm sensitive or can be sensitive. When people don't get to know who you are, they don't know your best intentions. I try my hardest to be kind and share love with every word I let out of my mouth to ride on my speech. I speak on behalf of everyone. My personality is definitely one that tries to help others in many cases.

I feel that my story is stuck in the past. The way white people used to and sometimes still do treat darker colored people makes me feel like I am a horrible thing. I support people of color and their lives and who they are. The past makes me think that I don't get heard for that. Please support everyone for who they are.

(I added on, please tell me if anything is wrong with this or if you'd like me to remove this. I do not want to hurt anyone's feelings and will feel free to remove if needed. I hope this is a good piece.)
